Summary
MS bike ride. Round 2. Ten years later.
Ten years ago, we did the MS bike ride with some friends - the ride starts and ends at the Skagit county fairgrounds and it broken into two days. You have the option of doing up to 150 miles, but most people do a lot less than that. Despite not having done this ride in 10 years, Angela and I decided to give it a shot once again. We headed out on Friday evening and met up with the crew for dinner and stayed at an airBnB in someone’s basement (complete with very low ceilings). The next morning, the real fun began.

We drove over and met up for breakfast with the team and got ready for an 8a start. We all decided on the 59 mile route for day one - and if we were up for it we would do a bigger distance day 2. There was a lot of excitement at the starting line!
The route took us on a long loop through Anacordes, including crossing the Tommy Thompson bridge, which spans Fidalgo Bay. It was a pretty fun bridge, something to break up the monotony.
Our lunch spot was just on the other side of the deception pass bridge. They had some motorcycle volunteers who lead groups of bikers across the bridge, but it was still a long wait with lots of traffic.
We only had about 20 miles left after lunch, but as always the miles after lunch are the hardest. Especially the last 10 miles which seemed to stretch on and on.
We wrapped up the day and headed to the beer garden and then to dinner. The spaghetti was delicious after our ride and we felt very accomplished.

We opted for a shorter day on day 2 - with Angela doing 27 and Tom doing 49. I didn’t take very many pictures the second day, although it was arguably more scenic. The 69 mile route on day 2 would have taken us through Chuckanut - and in retrospect I probably should have done it as I still had some energy at the end. Oh well.
We finished up, got changed, and headed home. Go Angela!
